Universal 15 hours funding for 3 and 4 year old children
All three and four year old children in England are entitled to a free part-time early years place at a nursery or pre-school before they reach school age.
Free early years places are funded by Brighter Futures for Children using central government money.
3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours per week of free funding for a maximum of 38 weeks a year from the term after their third birthday.
We automatically claim this funding from Brighter Futures for Children on behalf of parents.
How can the funding be used?
Micklands Pre-School offers the free 15 hours entitlement in the form of five x 3-hour sessions.
We endeavour to be as flexible as we can in how a child’s 15 hours of free early years education is taken to fit in with parent’s needs, subject to the availability of sessions.
Examples of how the 15 hours could be used are 5 x morning sessions or 5 x hour afternoon sessions, two and a half full days (would require 2 paid Lunch Clubs) or a combination of morning and afternoon sessions.
