“I have been working in childcare since 1996 and find working in early years extremely rewarding.  I strongly believe that children learn best through play, sharing fun experiences in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

I am a mum to four children.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, exercising and walking with my family.”

“I have been working in childcare since 2005. gaining my NVQ Levels 2 and 3 through apprenticeships.

I have six wonderful boys who definitely keep me busy! In my spare time I like to read and go jogging.”

“My long and happy association with Micklands Pre-School started in 2003 when my son joined the setting at the age of two. Not long after that, I was encouraged to become a member of the parent committee. I stayed on the committee for five years, holding the position of Secretary followed by Treasurer.

I became the Pre-School Administrator in January 2008. I continue to enjoy the challenge of keeping on top of the paperwork and finances with lots of little people running around!”

“When my daughter left the pre-school and started primary school in 2010, I became a regular volunteer at pre-school. Since then I have achieved both my Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Child Development and become a fully qualified keyperson within the staff team.

I also have a degree in fine arts which I enjoy putting to use when planning creative activities for the children.”

“I started working at pre-school in February 2017 helping with the lunch club and providing cover when needed. I am really enjoying working with the children and being part of the team at Micklands Pre-School.

“When my son attended Micklands Pre-School, I often helped out as a parent volunteer and saw with my own eyes what a great environment it was. So when my son left, I continued to help out as a regular volunteer. After a short while, I knew that I wanted to make this my profession and embarked on my NVQ Level 3 qualification in 2009. I am still enjoying every minute!”

Staff undertake continual training to ensure their skills are up to date and to give them fresh ideas to bring to the setting. Regular staff meetings ensure that all members of staff are aware of every child’s needs.

Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) Checks are routinely obtained for all staff, committee and regular volunteers to ensure their suitability to work with children. We ensure statutory training is completed and renewed as necessary including Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children.
