Targeted Two Year Old Funding

Some families of two-year-olds may be able to access up to 15 hours of early education (over 38 weeks of the year) from the term after a child’s second birthday, if the household:

  • is in receipt of certain benefits, such as Universal Credit
  • has no recourse to public funds (NRPF)

Or

  • The child is looked after by the local authority, has an education, health and care (EHC) plan, gets Disability Living Allowance, has left care under an adoption order, special guardianship order or a child arrangement order.

Parents need to apply for this funding themselves via the Reading Family Information Service where details of the full eligibility criteria are also available.

I am eligible, what happens next?

You will receive an email from Brighter Futures for Children with a six digit/ letter reference number confirming your eligibility for 2 year old funding.  You will need to share this reference number with us and we will use this to claim funding.

Micklands Pre-School accepts the Targeted 2 Year Old Funding.  However, please be aware that  the earliest we are currently able to consider offering a place to a child at our pre-school is to ‘Rising 3 Year Olds’ – children who will become 3 during the term of their birthday.  This is also subject to availability of sessions.
